No Switch release planned “at this time” for Resident Evil 2

During an interview with Gaming Bolt, Capcom brand manager Mike Lunn revealed the developer is not planning to release the remake version of Resident Evil 2 for Nintendo Switch.

“No, not at this time. We just wanted to focus on PS4, Xbox One, and PC at the moment.” said Mike Lunn when asked if a Nintendo Switch version is possible down the line.

The latest title in the series to be released for Switch is Resident Evil 7 which can be played via cloud streaming. The Switch version is only available in Japan, with a Western release yet to be confirmed.

During the conversation, Lunn was also asked if the developer ever considered a first person perspective for the Remake with Resident Evil 7’s success.

“I bet it was tossed around at some point in time, because it’s built on the same engine as RE7 engine. It’s built from the ground up, but I don’t think it was ever top running.”

“We have toyed with things like the over the shoulder camera, old school corner camera, but again they went with over the shoulder because it felt right for this product.”
