Is Capcom considering remaking The Remake?

Capcom was busy last week giving interviews and talking about its upcoming remake of the 1998 classic Resident Evil 2 at Gamescom.

Capcom’s reps at the event, Resident Evil 2’s Director Kazunori Kadoi and Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, were busy answering questions about more remakes, including the highly demanded remake of RE3: Nemesis.

However, the most interesting question came from Game Informer which asked if the company has considered remaking the 2002 remake of the original Resident Evil.

“Certainly enough time has passed that it wouldn’t be laughable to remake the remake. I personally think that would be an interesting thing to do,” said Kadoi. “In regard to Resident Evil’s spiritual predecessor, Sweet Home, we don’t have the rights to that game anymore, because it was actually based on a movie, and that’s the reason Capcom started making Resident Evil in the first place and why you don’t see any rereleases. It’s off the table at this point.”

So there we have it. It’s definitely not off the table!

Capcom also showcased Claire Redfield gameplay at the event and released new screenshots featuring Claire as she takes on Birkin.
