Gamescom is in full swing in Cologne, Germany with Capcom and Resident Evil 2 present. Trusted Reviews has had the opportunity to speak to Resident Evil 2’s Director Kazunori Kadoi and Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi about not only the game, but also the company’s future plans.
When asked whether we can expect a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, another fan favorite fans have been asking for a long time, the Capcom reps responded: “We are currently focused on Resident Evil 2 Remake, getting it out of the door and seeing how everyone receives it in January but, who knows what the future holds.”
So it’s definitely not out of question! And with Capcom’s previous successes relating to remakes, including the 2002 remake of the original game, which is considered one of the best in the series by fans, it’s highly likely we will be able to return to the world of RE3: Nemesis in the not too distant future.
In early August, Capcom revealed that it would further explore the possibility of more remakes and re-releases.
Trusted Reviews also asked the duo whether we can expect to play Resident Evil 2 on Nintendo Switch.
“As long as the hardware we’re targeting is able to handle the game we’re developing then it’s got flexibility. [B]ut at the moment we’re focusing the development of games like Resident Evil 2 Remake on PS4, Xbox One and PC,” said Kadoi, confirming what Mike Lunn, Capcom’s brand manager, said in June when he was asked the same question.
